Hello fellow Christmas lover, my name is Danielle, and I started this website over 12 years ago (as of 2023) to share the schedules for my favorite Christmas programming events. I grew up during the 80s when we didn’t have cable TV, DVR or even DVDs. During the holidays, I’d watch commercials carefully hoping I’d catch the announcement for when my favorite Christmas movie would air on TV. If I missed it, that was it. They only aired it once. You couldn’t set a reminder on your TV to record it or buy it anywhere in stores. You were simply out of luck until next year.

When I became an adult, I would send out the schedules every year by email so my nieces and nephews wouldn’t miss their favorites. I’d print the schedule and hang it on my fridge and encourage their parents to do the same.

My Uncle 1982In 2008, my only Uncle (who was always more like a brother to me), fell very ill. The doctors warned us he would not make it, and he spent months in the ICU and later rehabilitative care. I was devastated. He was more than an uncle; he was my friend. And he loved the holidays just as much as I did. Fortunately, he did survive but he was never well again and was mostly home bound. After he was released, I would send him the schedules and we’d discuss all of our old favorites. I wondered to myself, maybe there are others out there who would be interested in these schedules. Where you could see them all in one place. I decided to build that place. My uncle helped me compile my A to Z movie lists. It was a lot of fun, and he was a faithful follower of my websites and Facebook pages until his death in 2014. (Websites plural, I also run a Halloween themed website similar to this Christmas site)

After his death, I debated whether I should keep the site going or shut it down. Some of my regular visitors may have noticed my lack of participation and regular updates for a few years. It was a real struggle. But I decided to keep it going, working on it helps me feel close to him and brings back good memories of our times together during the holidays.

Today we live in a time where most people have cable tv with program guides, or access to streaming services where you can watch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer any old time of the year you want. DVDs are available for so many of the old favorites, and you can download and watch online even more that are not. So why take the time to still do this? Aside from feeling close to my uncle, I do it out of tradition. I feel like I am helping to preserve a part of the past. Of my past.

The website continues to be a family affair, as my own son and daughters regularly help me maintain and update the schedules throughout the year.

So there you have it. I just really do love the holidays. The decorations. The lights. The songs. The commercials. The tv specials. It stirs up nostalgia. I truly appreciate the comments I receive each year from visitors, and I look forward to seeing posts from familiar names, friends I’ve never met.

Thank you for visiting my site and sharing your holiday memories with me.

Happy Holidays

Please try to include “Christmas with Holly” “A Grandpa for Christmas” and “Snow Bride” in your countdown to Christmas for 2023!! And don’t worry about the strike. Hallmark has a multitude of treasured Christmas movies from the past to fill the entire schedule! We love keeping the old ones too!
    Please try! Thanks! Pat
