Mrs. Claus —
Have you been checking the Hallmark Channel website in the last couple of weeks? Since I last posted here about the ever-changing Christmas in July line-up on May 8th, the CIJ line-up has changed even more. Movies are disappearing, or are being reduced to only one or two airings. Other movies have been added into the lineup that were not there before.
The actual schedule on the website is not showing anything for July yet. But just by typing in the names of random movies in Search you can get a sense of what is scheduled and what is not, when the View All Showtimes tab appears. If there is no View All Showtimes tab for a specific movie, then the movie is not on the schedule yet.
All of the expected Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movies are now on the schedule — “The Christmas Card” is among them — but extremely popular movies like “The Christmas Ornament” and both of the “Mrs. Miracle” movies have disappeared from the Hallmark Channel schedule completely. In fact, ALL of the Debbie Macomber Christmas movies are currently not on the schedule at all, including “Trading Christmas.” “The Christmas Parade” is gone as well. “Let It Snow” has been cut back to only 2 showings, and “Snow Bride” is only listed once. “The Christmas Shepherd” is listed 4 times!
Since, obviously, the Christmas in July schedule is still a work in progress at this moment, as movies are disappearing and being added in, when do you think the final schedule will be posted on the Hallmark site? Do they work on the schedule all the way into June? I would think that it would be firmed up by mid-June, wouldn’t it?
I just have a hard tine believing that Hallmark would leave out “Mrs. Miracle” and “The Christmas Ornament” from the July marathon, as both of those movies are very popular. And yet, all of the other popular movies (“Let It Snow,” “A Very Merry Mix-Up,” “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “The Christmas Card,” “November Christmas,” etc.) are on the schedule.
Yes, unfortunately this has become a common occurrence the last few years. I try to hold off putting up a “final” list until closer to the end because of all the last minute changes they make.
Dear Mrs. Claus:
Last year The Christmas List was not shown on any network. Could Hallmark Channel consider this for the Countdown for Christmas list. This is one of my favorite movies and no one has shown it for at least two years.
Please consider showing this in 2015 line up.
Thank You.
“The Christmas List” is not a Hallmark movie. They primarily air their own made-for-Hallmark movies (including Hall of Fame movies) during their marathons, and they have to acquire the rights to air other movies, such as feature films (like “Home Alone,” which is going to be on in July).
“The Christmas List,” if I’m not mistaken, belongs/belonged to another channel. I think it may have originally aired on what is now the ABC Family channel, and then some other channel — possibly Lifetime, but I could be wrong — acquired the rights to it. I could swear that I saw it (once) in my listings during the holidays last year, but I don’t recall on which channel. And I am certain that I saw it on some channel or another in 2013. The channels could be independent/local channels that not everyone has, though.
i always love Christmas movies i was stay home laying down my bed getting Underneath Blanket i watching tv like all day and record Christmas movies at 12:00am i had so much Fun watching Christmas movie on hallmark channel around afternoon i love Christmas much but Christmas in July yay but they showing Christmas on abcfamily
Interestingly, someone must be changing the Christmas in July schedule quietly, behind the scenes, because I am noticing some changes from what was there just a couple of days ago.
For example, I just pulled up “The Christmas Spirit” on Hallmark’s website and it is not coming up as being on the list at all — right now, that is. As we know, that can change. Then I pulled up “The Christmas Ornament” — one of my absolute favorites — and it has vanished from the View All Showtimes listings, as if it is not going to air in July at all, which I refuse to believe because it’s a very popular movie and I think it will be on.
Next, I pulled up “The Christmas Parade” and it IS on the schedule, but it was not listed for July 3rd.
Let’s hope that as the Hallmark masterminds are fiddling with the schedule behind the scenes, someone comes to the realization that we do not need FIVE showings of “Home Alone” and removes 2 or 3 of them! Let’s also hope they decide to add in some of the movies they left out of the original schedule.
In the Keepsake/Christmas in July TV ad that’s currently running on the Hallmark Channel, they show a bunch of quick clips from assorted Hallmark Christmas movies (“Christmas Under Wraps” is one of them), as if to tell us that we will be seeing these movies in July. What’s interesting — or funny — is that one of the quick clips shows “Angels Sing,” but “Angels Sing” is presently not on the July schedule. I pulled it up on the Hallmark website and it is not scheduled to air anywhere at this point. It could always be added in if the schedule is still being tweaked, of course, but right now it is not slated to air.
What I am guessing is going to happen is that, once again, unfortunately, only some markets/areas/providers will have the all day/all night Christmas in July programming — and those people will likely get some extra movies thrown into their line-ups. The rest of the viewers in different markets will probably end up with the more limited schedule again — just like what happened last year to a lot of us.
I vividly remember that last year, at first, my Time Warner schedule for Hallmark (in Los Angeles) showed that I was getting an “all day/all night” line-up of movies, and I think that was what was originally advertised by Hallmark. But … then I turned on the channel at some point when there should have been a movie on, and got “I Love Lucy” instead.
And then, on top of that, I remember that last year my Hallmark schedule — according to the Time Warner menu — also showed that the movies were running beyond the actual end of the marathon. I think that the last day of the marathon was supposed to have been Sunday, 7/13 last year — BUT my cable guide/menu showed that Christmas movies would be running on the next weekend as week as well (like Fri., 7/18 – Sun., 7/20), and that there would be extra movies on the schedule that I had not yet seen during the initial 10 days (I think that “Christmas Magic” may have been one such movie).
Other people reported on Facebook and in the old Hallmark Community forums (which no longer exist) that they were getting the full 24/7, extended schedule of movies, and that it went on for at least 2 full weeks (not just 10 days). But, alas, I turned to the Hallmark Channel on that next weekend and there were no Christmas movies at all, anywhere.
Likewise, I recall that on New Year’s Day of 2014, my listings showed that Christmas movies were supposed to air after all of the Rose Parade coverage, with “Let it Snow” being the final movie. But there were no Christmas movies on 1/1/14 in my area — everything stopped before the Rose Parade, even though they were listed on the schedule. Other folks got Christmas movies into the first week or two of 2014.
So I think that, depending on the cable or satellite provider, some of us will get the extended line-ups for these holiday marathons and some of us will not, but some of the schedules may be misleading and make us think we are getting something we’re not getting. And… which of us will get which line-up is the question! Lol.
Mrs. Claus — I just saw a new, detailed press release (dated today) — I think you know where to look for it 😉 — with info about the Keepsake/Christmas in July event, as well as about the Countdown to Christmas! Highlights:
1. There will be a brand new movie debuting during Christmas in July, starring a reliable Hallmark favorite (I know you will announce it here, so I don’t want to spoil the surprise);
2. Supposedly, this Christmas in July event (on both Hallmark channels) is supposed to be 24/7, starting early on 7/3 and ending late on 7/12, although I have a feeling my cable provider will once again give me the “limited” July schedule like they did last year 🙁 ;
3. The new Christmas movies and/or the Countdown to Christmas are, indeed, debuting on 10/31 and not on 11/1, and the same dates apply to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ Most Wonderful Movies of Christmas event too; and
4. A new title for one of the movies in the Countdown to Christmas has been revealed — a title I have not heard of before today (again, I know you will announce it so I will not spoil the fun), and supposedly we will go behind the scenes of many of the new movies during the July event!
Woohoo!! I love Hallmark Christmas!!!! Can’t wait for July.. Thank you Hallmark!!
The dates are a little out of order above, so I’m not sure what is supposed to air on which date. But I just pulled up “Home Alone” on Hallmark’s website and saw that it is actually scheduled to air FIVE times over the course of the 10 days (including on July 11th and 12th).
Why on earth would Hallmark devote 10 hours of this limited event to a 25-year-old, non-Hallmark movie that anyone can watch anytime, any year, any holiday season, when they left so many of their own Hallmark movies off of the list? Where is “Angels & Ornaments”? “Where is “Annie Claus is Coming to Town”? Where is “The Christmas Shepherd”? Where is “Finding Christmas”? Why is “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” only airing one time in 10 days?
I can understand airing “Home Alone” once or twice, but 5 times is overkill in comparison to how often Hallmark’s own productions are going to air. I think it was a bad move on their part.
I can believe it, there a few days with empty time slots 🙁
Home Alone is the BEST!
PLEASE TELL AT&T Uverse to bring back Hallmark Channel ! There are a lot of us that have been begging AT&T to bring Hallmark back.
