    Disappointing TCM
What happened to your policy of not editing or altering movies? Now you are just not showing them

Maybe we should stop watching TCM!!!! This is the craziest thing I ever heard. Holiday Inn is one of the best Christmas movies ever made. History is history we can’t change the past. Put a disclaimer on it and show it.

No it is not showing…they used to display a disclaimer regarding the black face scene. But it is not stupid or a travesty to pull it either. The stupidity and travesty was when they created that scene. The stupidity and travesty now is that you think it was alright and want your children to experience it now. That is how racism gets perpetuated throughout the generations.

Classic, yes. Charming, yes. A travesty to not show it, yes. However, to say that the racist reasons for not showing Holiday Inn are stupid–are, in fact, stupid, misinformed and ignorant. How would you, the white person who posted the “stupid” comment–like to be portrayed as a slovenly, black faced, large white lipped illiterate caricature? Additionally, how would you, a white person, like to be accurately and consistently branded as an animal sodomizing Anglo Saxon who inflicted widespread disease, famine and death upon clean countries you nefariously infiltrated and conquered? I love the movie, and believe it should be aired in its original format. However, a disclaimer should be offered to apologize for, and address the inaccuracies with regard to the portrayal of the black people who built this country.

Looking at what happened in the 1940s through todays lens and automatically canceling it is a travesty of justice. Please reconsider your decision on Holiday Inn. If nothing else place a warning re the blackface scene at the beginning of the show.

I agree…the reason that it is racist is so stupid. Too bad people can’t get over it and just enjoy the charm, music and great acting that it really delivers…especially at Christmas. Bring it back!!!

“Holiday Inn” has not been shown on TCM for years. What a shame!!!! This is the “movie” where Bing Crosby introduced Irving Berlin’s song “White Christmas” which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1942. I prefer the “Holiday Inn” version over the 1955 “White Christmas” movie featuring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. Please TCM, bring it back to TV !!!!

Sad to see that a true classic won’t be aired. My children have grown up watching this movie with me. It’s like not seeing A CHRISTMAS CAROL. That just doesn’t make any sense. Please bring it back and add it before Christmas. Great movie with great actors and clean fun. Love the movie as well as the music
